The National Cybersecurity Agency will operate as the legal successor to the Electronic Security Service and will ensure the further development of the experience, potential and institutional capabilities formed in this field, said Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov during his speech at the IV National Cybersecurity Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the Agency’s main tasks will be to carry out regulation and supervision in the field of cybersecurity in the country, coordinate the activities of resilient information infrastructure entities, as well as organize nationwide awareness regarding cybersecurity risks and threats.
"Special attention is being paid by the state to the field of cybersecurity, and important work has been carried out in recent years to protect the country's information space. During the Patriotic War, as well as during COP29, the 10th session of the World Urban Forum and other internationally significant events, numerous cyberattacks and sabotage attempts carried out against Azerbaijan’s information resources were successfully prevented as a result of comprehensive measures taken jointly with relevant institutions," he noted.
He also stated that the results achieved and the experience gained during the operation of the Electronic Security Service will henceforth be continued by the National Cybersecurity Agency.
