A meeting was held at the Information Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA) with the members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT), ICTA told APA-Economics.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the establishment of the 5G network in Azerbaijan and the preparation and adoption of new legislative acts.
It was noted that the new draft law includes joint authorization for radio frequencies and mobile virtual network operator licenses. These innovations are expected to give an impulsive boost to the development of mobile telecommunications services in Azerbaijan.
The meeting also discussed the efficient organization of inter-operator functional “Local Exchange” interconnections. Osman Gunduz stated that there are interconnection difficulties, and local traffic is routed through international exchange points. The ICTA chairman noted that monitoring has been conducted in this area, and it has been determined that the results were not satisfactory and mentioned that the number of interconnection ports is being increased under the supervision of ICTA. It was reported that currently, the “Tier 1” inter-operator local traffic exchange in the country has been brought to a satisfactory level.
