A “Support Program for the Development of the Digital Economy” will be prepared and implemented in Azerbaijan, and support mechanisms for the digital transformation of private-sector economic activities will be introduced, APA-Economics reports.
This initiative is reflected in the “Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2029.”
According to the document, during 2026–2029 at least 10 enterprises are expected to benefit from the support mechanism, at least 12 enterprises are expected to receive assistance for digital transformation and improved access to resources, and the share of the digital economy in non-oil economic indicators is targeted to increase steadily.
The purpose of the program is to support the digital transformation process of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large companies, and to expand their financial resources through grants and concessional loans. Singapore’s “Go Digital” program is cited as an international example: within this program, 18,000 SMEs underwent digitalization, leading to a 3% increase in productivity. The application of a similar model in Azerbaijan is expected to accelerate enterprise digitalization and enhance productivity and added value.
