A meeting was held between Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, and Lord John Alderdice, the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, the Ministry told APA-Economics.
The Trade Envoy was provided with detailed information about the investments and projects implemented in the country’s transport and communication infrastructure over the past 20 years. It was noted that as a result of Azerbaijan’s active cooperation with Central Asia and other countries located on the Middle Corridor, the volume of shipments through this corridor has increased several times in recent years.
During the meeting, information was provided on the work carried out on the construction of the Zangezur corridor, and it was emphasized that the project will contribute to the diversification of regional communications as well as support sustainable peace and prosperity in the region.
In addition, an exchange of views was held on the priority areas on the agenda of the partnership between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, including aviation and railway transport, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the prospects for joint efforts in the development of human capital with digital knowledge and skills.
