Azerbaijan and Croatia exchange experiences in digital security

A study tour titled "Data Protection Practices" was organized in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, within the framework of the Promotion of Media Professionalism and Freedom of Information in Azerbaijan (PRO-M-FEX) project organized by the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan told APA-Economics.

Representatives of the Ministries of Digital Development and Transport, Justice and Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the State Agency for Citizen Service and Social Innovations under the President, the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, and civil society organizations were represented in the study tour.

During the visit, information was provided on the measures implemented in Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Information Security and Cybersecurity for 2023-2027”, the “Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Approval of the “Digital Development Concept in the Republic of Azerbaijan” and the “Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Artificial Intelligence for 2025-2028”, as well as priority areas in information security and cybersecurity, processing and protection of personal data, and artificial intelligence.

Experts from the Croatian Agency for Personal Data Protection (AZOP) gave both theoretical and practical reports. Information was provided on the activities, powers and real sanctions applied by AZOP. Discussions were held on the experience of implementing the European Union’s “General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR) and the 108+ Convention.

As part of the event, the delegation also visited the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration, and Digital Transformation of Croatia.
