“We are working on new global initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence and climate change auditing,” said Archana P. Shirsat, Deputy Director of the Professional SAIs Department at the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), during the 62nd meeting of the ASOSAI Governing Board held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
Shirsat noted that the Professional Education for SAI Auditors (PESA) program, supported by IDI, continues to strengthen professionalization in the audit field. She also highlighted that the strategy presented by SAI Media on auditing climate action was awarded the Innovator SYN award.
Over the past two years, IDI has carried out pilot collaborations with six ASOSAI members. These initiatives included the establishment of quality control systems aligned with SAI 140 standards and the provision of technical support to the supreme audit institutions of the Maldives and Pakistan.
Shirsat added that IDI is currently conducting experiments in two main directions: audit approaches for public debt sustainability and tailored support mechanisms for small and medium-sized states.
She emphasized the importance of training and high-level dialogues on the application of artificial intelligence in audit processes. In this context, a high-level meeting titled “AI and the Development of Auditor Competencies” is scheduled to be held on September 11, 2025.
