11th meeting of Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Austria held

The 11th meeting of the Joint Commission on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, technical and technological areas between Azerbaijan and Austria was held in Vienna, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told APA-Economics.

Co-chair of the Joint Commission from the Republic of Austria, Director General of the Department for Economic Affairs, Innovation, and International Policy of the Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy, and Tourism Florian Frauscher welcoming the Azerbaijani delegation stated that Azerbaijan and Austria are countries with developing economic and cultural relations, and there is potential to further expand cooperation in various fields.

At the meeting, the co-chair of the Joint Commission from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov, provided information on last year’s macroeconomic indicators of Azerbaijan and the volume of trade turnover between the two countries.

Samir Mammadov spoke about the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. It was noted that the liberated areas are being rebuilt, and this region has been declared a “green energy” zone.

The Deputy Minister provided the Austrian side with detailed information about the work carried out in the fields of transport and digital development in Azerbaijan, as well as the measures taken to develop the Middle Corridor.

Speaking at the meeting, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Austria, Rovshan Sadigbeyli, gave information about Azerbaijan’s leading role in the South Caucasus region and its economic potential, as well as political, economic, and other relations with Austria and the existing potential, and he emphasized that the Joint Commission is an important platform for expanding cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on cooperation opportunities in the fields of mutual investments, industry, trade, agriculture, energy, transport, digital development and ICT, healthcare, culture, tourism, youth, and sports.

At the end of the meeting, the Protocol of the 11th meeting of the Joint Commission on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, technical and technological areas between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Austria was signed.

Note that the Joint Commission was established on the basis of the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Government of the Republic of Austria on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, technical and technological areas” signed in Vienna on November 13, 1998.
