Zangezur corridor opening to boost Middle Corridor transit capacity, says Ali Asadov

The opening of the Zangezur corridor will increase the transit capacity of the Middle Corridor, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the first meeting of the heads of government and their deputies of the Organization of Turkic States in Bishkek, APA reports.

“Our cooperation in the transport sector is developing at an increasing pace and makes a significant contribution to strengthening regional ties. The Middle Corridor, which passes through the territories of the Turkic states and plays a strategic role not only for our region but also in expanding global trade and transport connections, is becoming increasingly important. In this context, the recent agreements reached in Washington on connecting Azerbaijan’s main territory with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are of historic significance. The opening of the Zangezur corridor will provide new economic and transit opportunities for all regional countries and, by integrating into the Middle Corridor, will increase its throughput capacity,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
