Today, attacks carried out by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran using unmanned aerial vehicles against the international airport and other civilian infrastructure of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan have caused serious concern and great outrage among members of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), as well as the entire Azerbaijani public, the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party told APA.
This treacherous act of provocation, which contradicts the spirit of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Iran and the norms of international law, serves to increase military and political tensions in the region.
It was noted that the independent Azerbaijani state, which has created new realities by restoring its territorial integrity and absolute sovereignty, has always remained committed to the principle of good neighborliness: “The constructive policy and peace diplomacy currently pursued by our country, taking into account national interests and global challenges, are aimed at building trust in the context of reliable security and multifaceted cooperation in the region.
At the same time, Azerbaijan, which is further strengthening its military-strategic potential as the leading state of the South Caucasus, is capable of preventing any threat directed at national and regional security. We strongly condemn this attack by the neighboring state of Iran and demand that it apologize to the Azerbaijani people and put an end to biased propaganda and all acts of provocation against our country once and for all.”
