X meeting of Azerbaijan-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission held-UPDATED

The 10th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two countries was held in Baku on January 17, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov and the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Cabinet of Ministers informed APA about this.

The heads of government first held a one-on-one meeting and reviewed the current issues of the bilateral agenda.

Then, a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission was held with the participation of delegations of the two countries.

"The development of relations with Georgia is one of the priority directions of Azerbaijan's foreign policy," Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov said during the opening of the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan, APA reports.

According to the Prime Minister, the strategic partnership between the two countries has reached a qualitatively new level.

"Honorable Prime Minister, the development of relations with Georgia is one of the priority directions of Azerbaijan's foreign policy. Over the past period, our strategic partnership has reached a qualitatively new level. This cooperation covers all important areas and has a broad legal framework, including nearly 140 documents. There is an active political dialogue between our countries. We always support each other within international organizations. In difficult times, we have always stood by each other. This tradition continues today. I would especially like to highlight our mutual support on the issue of territorial integrity. Our economic and trade cooperation has always been crucial. Georgia is one of Azerbaijan's main trade partners. Although our trade turnover decreased somewhat last year, I am confident that this is temporary. We must take the necessary steps to fully realize the economic potential. This issue will undoubtedly remain a focus of attention," said Ali Asadov.
