Uzbek presidential adviser: Strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan is developing

Strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is developing, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy Abdulaziz Kamilov said, APA reports.

According to him, this is mainly due to the strong brotherly relations established between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

“There is cooperation and trust between us at the highest level. These are strategic relations. Economic cooperation and active collaboration in the humanitarian sphere are developing. We cooperate between two major regions — Central Asia and the Caucasus. Here, Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev play an important role,” Abdulaziz Kamilov said.

He stressed that this cooperation could lead to the creation of a new geopolitical space: “As a result, it is possible to form a new geopolitical space connecting Central Asia and the South Caucasus.”

Kamilov also referred to agreements reached with the President of Azerbaijan at the summit of Central Asian states.

“There is already mutual understanding on this issue. These agreements were reached during the visit of the President of Azerbaijan and his participation in the Central Asia summit. The countries of the region now share common approaches on a number of important regional and global issues together not with five, but with six states. This is a very positive development, and together with brotherly Azerbaijan we share a unified approach on many important regional and global processes,” he added.
