Cooperation between the UN and the Government of Azerbaijan continues at a high level, Interim UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Igor Garafulić, told APA.
He said that although only a short time has passed since he started his mission in Azerbaijan, he has already been able to hold high-level meetings with government representatives.
“I have been working here for only one month, and I can say that all doors have been open to me. I have had the opportunity to hold meetings at the highest levels in the country. I can say that the dialogue between the UN and the Government of Azerbaijan is at a very good and excellent level,” he noted.
Igor Garafulić stated that as Resident Coordinator, he coordinates the activities of various UN agencies.
According to him, a framework document on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN was signed in October last year, and the main goal now is to implement those agreements. “The signal I received from meetings with the Presidential Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is that they attach great importance to partnership with the UN in the fields of urban development and environment.”
Garafulić added that one of the important directions of this cooperation will also be WUF13, to be held in Baku.
