"I thank the Government of Azerbaijan for hosting this event," Vladanka Andreeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, said at the opening of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the UN’s Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities – GlobE Network, APA reports.
The UN official noted that corruption undermines the foundations of governance and deprives citizens of their rights: "We all must work to ensure sustainable and green growth. Corruption is a threat at every level of sustainable development. We must strengthen our partnerships to increase transparency. The United Nations Convention against Corruption outlines specific provisions for criminal measures and asset recovery. Azerbaijan is a participant in the UN Convention against Corruption and is represented in all its mechanisms. For this, I thank the Government of Azerbaijan. I hope that, as an active member of the GLOBE Network, Azerbaijan will continue to play an active role in strengthening the fight against corruption and in the recovery of assets."
