Ukrainian ambassador: Ukrainian and Azerbaijani people know the real value of independence

January 22 is a substantial history for Ukraine – we celebrate Ukraine’s Unity Day. On this day of 1919, the Act was announced on joining the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR) and Western Ukrainian People’s Republic in the square Sophia of Kyiv. It was a historical moment that at that time Ukrainian people’s unique and indivisible Ukraine dream came true, Yuriy Husyev, Ukrainian Ambassador in Azerbaijan said in his article related to Unity Day, APA reports.

“Today also reminds the importance of international relations and support among the countries eager for independence and fair peace. In 1918, in the complicated period of the state establishment, diplomatic relations between the Ukrainian State and The Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan (DRA). This fact is proof that our people have shared common values of freedom, sovereignty, and dignity for more than one century.

The unity of the Ukrainian people is not only about joining the territories. This is people’s unity, the idea of unity in difference. On these days, while our country protecting its freedom and independence against Russian aggression, we realize how important unity with common values based on international rights and justice principles for the whole world is.

We highly appreciate the support of the Azerbaijan Republic which consistently supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as provides humanitarian aid. This is a major manifestation of solidarity among our peoples and countries. Both peoples realize the value of freedom and independence.

Between Ukraine and Azerbaijan history of the diplomatic relations is an example of cooperation based on reverence and respect. In 1918, Ukraine and Azerbaijan made a step into the mutual understanding path and this path goes on today too. As it was at that time, today our countries overcome the challenges, struggle to protect their statehood and build friendship and partnership bridges too.

Today Ukraine and Azerbaijan are strategic partners joining for common challenges and goals. We try to manage fair peace, stability, and welfare within the Black Sea- Caspian region and all over the world. Our cooperation demonstrates that despite the one century has passed since the first diplomatic relations were made, sovereignty and justice values still take an important place.

Respected friends, the unity is foundation stone on which our future has been built. It is not only the joining of the territories it is also uthe nity of the soul, common goal, and firmness in the struggle over protecting the right to live in the native land. We offer our deepest gratitude to the Republic of Azerbaijan for the solidarity and support provided to us at such a difficult time.

May our friendship which goes on for ages be the guarantee of our common successes and victories” the diplomat noted.
