“On February 6, 2025, we celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan. This important date symbolizes friendship, mutual support, and strategic partnership between our countries. Over the past three decades, we have strengthened relations in the political, economic, humanitarian, and cultural spheres, laying solid foundations for future cooperation,” this is stated in an article by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev, dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, APA reports.
According to the ambassador, diplomatic relations between the two countries have deep historical roots: "As early as 1918, official diplomatic relations were established between the Ukrainian state and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which formed the basis of modern partnership. This historical heritage is an important testament to the long-standing friendly relations between our peoples."
The diplomat said that from the first days of Ukraine and Azerbaijan's independence, two peoples have always supported each other, and at the same time, both countries consistently support each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and defend the basic principles of international law.
“Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for Ukraine in the field of trade and energy. The turnover of goods and services between our states is recovering after a significant decline in 2022 and is gradually increasing, while strategic infrastructure projects such as the development of the transport corridor open up new opportunities for business and regional cooperation.
Humanitarian relations are equally as important. Yesterday, February 5, 2025, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the allocation of further assistance for energy equipment for the energy system of Ukraine. We are sincerely grateful that from the first days of Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine, Azerbaijan has been supporting the demining of territories and providing humanitarian assistance. We appreciate this very much and will never forget it,” - added Yuri Husyev.
