“We share the same view with Azerbaijan regarding Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman said at a press conference today, APA reports.
The diplomat said that the United Kingdom will stand with Ukraine for as long as necessary: “I hope that during my time here, Russia’s full-scale, illegal and barbaric invasion of Ukraine, and the immense suffering of both the Ukrainian and Russian peoples, will come to an end.”
According to the ambassador, the United Kingdom continues to exert pressure on Russia through sanctions, and these sanctions have caused approximately £450 billion in damage to the Russian economy: “This figure is equivalent to two years of the budget allocated for Putin’s illegal war. Our commitment to Ukraine is long-term: a 100-year partnership.”
Duncan Norman emphasized that he sincerely welcomes Azerbaijan’s political and humanitarian support for Ukraine: “Azerbaijan plays an invaluable role in supporting Ukraine’s and Europe’s energy resilience. In addition, President Zelenskyy also made a historic visit in April.”
