We are holding the Antalya Diplomatic Forum during a period of extraordinary processes, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said at the official opening ceremony of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA reports.
Hakan Fidan stated that this forum is bringing together different polarities of the world: "This forum has quickly become a respected platform globally. This year's theme is the role of diplomacy in a fragmented world. We will discuss mediation, regional and global cooperation, and solutions to problems. With this, we plan to bring diplomacy back to the forefront."
The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that it is wrong to view diplomacy today as just corridors and tables: "Today, messages can be delivered from one end of the world to the other in seconds. Other global issues – energy crises, cyberattacks, trade wars – must also be addressed. We are experiencing a global transformation. The current international system is unable to solve problems. Trust between countries is weakening and being lost. The arms race has started again. The weakening of international organizations is one of the most serious challenges we face. If we do not want a future ruled by disorder and lawlessness, we need effective diplomacy. A fairer world will be built through this path."
Hakan Fidan pointed out that today, the UN cannot meet the demands of the world and has become a tool in the hands of the powerful: "This was evident in the Gaza crisis. The bundle of injustice can no longer be contained. Any system that is not based on justice must collapse. Türkiye is a country at the center of crises but also at the center of solutions. Today, Türkiye is a country working for peace in Ukraine, Syria, and Gaza."
Hakan Fidan also noted that Türkiye is a key actor in fostering cooperation in the South Caucasus.
