Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Hakan Fidan spoke about the issues that caused disagreement between Ankara and NATO allies at the 11th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

Minister, speaking about the NATO and EU's security interests, stated that today one of the discussed topics is the security of Europe and how to adapt the related requirements to the NATO framework.

"However it should be mentioned that NATO has a different control mechanism. We, as Türkiye, monitor the situation closely, raise our concerns, and discuss it at the ministerial level, the summit of heads of government, and technical meetings. We have a good dialogue with the Secretary-General, his staff, and allies."

Hakan Fidan noted that in the last two years, there were frequent discussions between Türkiye and NATO in two directions: "These were the discussions on the issue of the membership of Finland and Sweden membership. If we are talking about strengthening NATO then we have issues to raise and concerns as well. We are talking about the security and territorial integrity of Türkiye, we are threatened from the other side of the border, and our security is threatened by PKK, and YPG. However, on the other side, some countries support these terrorist groups. The USA does that openly, some secretly. But both, we and they are NATO countries, allies. Our national security is threatened, because these allies of ours support terrorist organizations.

NATO's goal is to make its member countries feel safe.

Another issue is the imposition of restrictions against us in the defense industry. Restrictions in the terror and defense industry are the major issues we raise in front of NATO. However, I should emphasize that we had healthy discussions with allies," Hakan Fidan stressed.
