The three members of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) detained during Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla have been sent to Azerbaijan ahead of their planned return to Türkiye, the Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Öncü Keçeli announced, APA reports.
Keçeli stated that the MPs were dispatched to Azerbaijan as part of the arrangements for their repatriation to Türkiye. He also noted that official efforts by Ankara to secure the release and return of other Turkish citizens involved in the flotilla are ongoing.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, included three Turkish deputies from the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye among its participants and was intercepted by Israeli authorities.
