"Last year, Russia's occupation of Ukraine was the major topic of discussion, and today, what is happening in Gaza is being discussed," Volkan Bozkir, president of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly said during the panel on “Fixing the Fractured World” held within the framework of the 11th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

According to him, today new conflicts in Syria, Afganistan, and Yaman are undergoing.

"The fractured world is no longer ready for new upheavals", the diplomat added.

Volkan Bozkir spoke about the activities of the UN during his speech: " We need to talk about the role of the UN, we don't have the luxury of replacing this organization with another institution. UN had a successful activity. But today we don't see this and this is because of the UN Security Council. UN can no longer intervene, its activity is paralyzed. Today, the USA should take responsibility for the world it created after the II World War."

He also touched on the importance of the reforms at the UN Security Council during his speech and emphasized that these reforms have not been implemented so far. Volkan Bozkir said that some countries use their veto rights and usually do it for the sake of national interests.

"We should say that Russia invaded the lands of Ukraine. Russia is trying to restore the territories of the former Soviet Union. We should stop it, if we don't stop it, this map can expand, which we wouldn't want to see."
