US President Donald Trump has shared an interview given to Newsmax by Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, APA reports.
The US President published Hajiyev’s interview on his Truth Social page under the headline “Azerbaijan's Hajiyev to Newsmax: Trump Peacemaker, Iran Deal Possible.”
It should be noted that in the interview given on September 14, Hikmat Hajiyev spoke about US President Donald Trump’s role in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“President Trump and his arrival to this office completely changed United States and Azerbaijan's cooperation and partnership. And the most important thing: the peace. And he delivered the peace to the region of the South Caucasus,” Hikmat Hajiyev said.
He described the meeting held at the White House on August 8, 2025, with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and Donald Trump as “a historical moment.”
“President Trump's leadership . . . brought his political weight into this process and brought Armenia and Azerbaijan into that ultimate peace,” Hikmat Hajiyev said.
Hikmat Hajiyev also emphasized that Trump contributed to shaping a new stage of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.
“President Trump and President Ilham Aliyev have offered a new era in the United States and Azerbaijan strategic partnership,” he noted.
Hikmat Hajiyev noted that strategic friendship, cooperation, and partnership between the United States and Azerbaijan are built on a strong foundation and will continue to grow.
