The 16th meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Azerbaijan and Iran has kicked off in Tehran, said Amin Tarfa, head of the International Relations Center of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, APA reports.
According to the Ministry, Amin Tarfa said that on the first day of the meeting, technical and expert groups will discuss issues in the economic field between the two countries, as well as discussions on trade, culture, transport, tourism, energy, and other economic areas will be held.
"A protocol will be signed with the participation of the co-chairs of the Joint Economic Commission - Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Farzana Sadiq. The mentioned document will be very useful for the development of relations between the two countries," the Iranian official said.
Moreover, Tarfa added that important projects in the field of transport between Iran and Azerbaijan will be discussed during the contacts. A. Tarfa noted that in the field of infrastructure, including the Araz corridor, the Iranian route connecting railways and highways, as the project connecting Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan, is being studied and evaluated, and the construction and operation of new bridges and border terminals will be discussed.
