Switzerland has announced the temporary suspension of operations at its embassy in Iran, APA reports citing the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
The decision was made in response to the escalating military operations and unstable situation in the country. The ministry confirmed that all diplomatic staff have been evacuated from Tehran.
“All embassy personnel have been evacuated from Iran. They will only return once the situation stabilizes. We urge all parties to engage in dialogue to ensure stability,” the statement said.
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis added that some embassy staff, including the ambassador, left Tehran earlier and arrived in Azerbaijan. “Another group has since been evacuated to Baku and is expected to depart for Switzerland soon,” he noted.
