Staff of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran and consulate in Tabriz to be evacuated - UPDATED

Instructions have been issued regarding the evacuation of staff from Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran and the Consulate General in Tabriz, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, APA reports.

According to the minister, based on the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, it has been decided to fully withdraw the diplomatic staff from Iran.

“This applies to both the embassy in Tehran and the Consulate General in Tabriz. Work is currently underway in this direction, and the relevant instructions have been issued. Instructions have been given for the evacuation of the staff of both the embassy in Tehran and the Consulate General in Tabriz. These instructions are currently in the implementation phase. Against the background of the development of these events, we cannot put the lives of our people at risk. From now on, the processes will be carefully monitored. We will wait for the results of the investigation conducted by the Iranian side regarding the drone attacks, and depending on its outcome, further steps and decisions will be taken,” Jeyhun Bayramov said.
