Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, also touched upon the summoning of the Russian ambassador to the Iranian MFA regarding the Zangezur Corridor during a briefing today, APA reports.
According to her, this matter was actually different.
"I have seen the statements from Iranian MPs, in which they criticized Russia's position on the Zangezur Corridor. What can I say about the reaction from the Iranian side? We are in constant contact with our partners. We have provided all clarifications on this topic. We believe that the arguments presented by us have been heard and accepted in Tehran," the Russian MFA official noted.
She emphasized that an anti-Russia information campaign related to the issue is being conducted in Iran by certain circles, which are using every opportunity to obstruct the expanding strategic partnership between Moscow and Tehran. Zakharova described this as a provocation and stated that the West is behind it: "Because the Westerners are the only ones who benefit from the development of the situation in this way and from such an information campaign."

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has responded to Iranian officials' objections regarding the Zangazur Corridor, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
During a briefing today, the Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated that Russia has conveyed its position on the provisions of the November 10, 2020 statement to representatives of official Tehran.
"We have expressed our position in detail. We have also conveyed this position to Tehran through diplomatic channels. There is no inconsistency in Russia's stance on respecting the sovereignty of regional countries, nor can there be. Respect for the sovereignty of not only regional countries but all countries is a fundamental principle for us," the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson emphasized.
