A special diplomatic division on climate action has been established within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, during his speech at an event held within the framework of the “Baku Climate Action Week,” APA reports.
“The ‘COP29’ hosted by us was very successful. We have grounds to say this. Because it had the highest number of participants — nearly 70,000 people took part in the event. Azerbaijan ensured a high level of inclusivity at this event. Azerbaijan was able to engage both governments and members of civil society in COP29,” said Yalchin Rafiyev.
The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that meetings were held with representatives of several countries at the United Nations, and that some of these countries have developed climate action plans.
Yalchin Rafiyev called on the countries that have made commitments related to climate action to fulfill their obligations, and emphasized that the legacy of COP29 must be continued.
