Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with participants of the 3rd meeting of the friendship groups of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
The importance of the trilateral format of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Northern Cyprus interparliamentary working groups was emphasized at the meeting, noting that regular meetings within this format serve to develop interparliamentary cooperation, protect common interests, and strengthen solidarity. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stated that discussions to be held in Baku over two days within the trilateral format would contribute to further deepening cooperation between the parliaments.
Speaker of the Parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ziya Ozturkler expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s solidarity, friendship, brotherhood, and support for the TRNC, and described the establishment of a friendship group with Northern Cyprus in the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan as an important step.
Head of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Shamil Ayrim emphasized the importance of continuing relations between the friendly and brotherly countries at the parliamentary level and shared his views on further expanding ties within the trilateral format.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
