"Today, unfortunately, in a number of countries, parliaments are becoming instruments of double standards," said the Speaker of Azerbaijan's Parliament (Milli Majlis) Sahiba Gafarova at the international parliamentary conference on "Parliamentarism: Traditions and Prospects", APA reports.

The Speaker said that tomorrow the conference participants will visit the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan - Fuzuli, Khojaly, Khankandi, Shusha: "You will be a living witness of the cities and villages razed to the ground by Armenia. But at the same time, you will get acquainted with the huge restoration and construction work carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev."

Sahiba Gavarova emphasized that the path to peace and stability in the South Caucasus has been opened by Azerbaijan's initiative: "Along with all this, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the parliaments of Western countries are trying to interfere in the internal affairs of our country. The reason for this is that Azerbaijan has liberated its territories from occupation and is pursuing a policy in line with its national interests. Such campaigns were also clearly manifested during COP29. Forces pursuing their own narrow political interests were making absurd claims against our country."
