The parliamentary delegation led by Gordan Jandroković, Chairman of the Croatian Parliament, who is on an official visit to oAzerbaijan, has arrived at the Milli Majlis, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) told APA.
After inspecting the plenary hall of the parliament, the guests visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum at the Milli Majlis, where Gordan Jandroković signed the Book of Remembrance.
Then, an expanded meeting was held between the Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, and the Chairman of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, expressed her confidence that this visit, being the first at the level of parliamentary leaders in the last 11 years, will contribute to the development of relations between our countries and parliaments. During the meeting, it was noted that over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, the relations have risen to the level of strategic partnership, and high-level reciprocal visits have played an important role in the development of our ties.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis expressed his satisfaction with the mutual support and solidarity between our countries within the framework of international organizations, and noted that Croatia's active support for our country's initiatives within the framework of COP29 and the participation of Prime Minister Andrey Plenkovic in this important event were highly appreciated.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova also provided information about the initialing of the peace agreement with Armenia.
Expressing his pleasure at being on a visit to Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, shared his impressions about the meeting he held today with President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that Azerbaijan's restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity in 2023 is a source of pride and that the signing of a peace agreement with Armenia soon will be an important contribution to the development of the entire region.
The Speaker of the Parliament spoke about the existing economic relations between our countries, including cooperation in the energy sector, emphasized Azerbaijan's role in ensuring the energy security of European countries.
