Today, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, met with Tan Sri Dato Johari Bin Abdul, Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament’s House of Representatives, APA reports citing the press service of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis.
During the meeting, Tan Sri Dato Johari Bin Abdul warmly welcomed Speaker Gafarova and thanked the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation for participating in the 46th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). He emphasized that such inter-parliamentary platforms provide an excellent opportunity to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with cooperation between their parliaments in international organizations, highlighting the potential for joint activities within the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. Speaker Gafarova noted the significance of the 46th APA General Assembly in fostering such cooperation.
The discussion also covered future prospects for Azerbaijan-Malaysia parliamentary collaboration and underscored that such meetings confirm the strong ties between the two legislatures.
Additionally, Speaker Gafarova briefed her counterpart on developments in the South Caucasus, the liberation of Azerbaijani territories, and large-scale reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur. She also shared insights on the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process within the context of the Azerbaijani President’s recent working visit to Washington.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
