Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova held a number of meetings on the sidelines of the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
During meetings with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pere Joan Pons, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona, newly elected Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anda Filip, Vice President of the organization Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Executive Committee member Karen Bradley and Bureau Chair Cynthia Lopez Castro, Vice Speakers of the Moroccan House of Representatives Nadia Touhami and Zaina Id Hali, as well as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Mauritania Siham Nacem, the importance of the Global Conference in terms of expanding cooperation among women parliamentarians was emphasized.
During the discussions, the importance of multilateral platforms was highlighted, and issues of bilateral cooperation within the framework of international parliamentary organizations, as well as between legislative bodies, were reviewed.
