Today, Azerbaijan serves as a bridge not only between regions, but also between civilizations, taking important steps toward promoting dialogue, peace, and sustainable development, said Somali Presidential Advisor Mohamed Osman Mohamoud during his speech at the first General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform (GSNP), APA reports.
“As someone coming from Africa, I can say that there are both challenges and opportunities there. Africa is undergoing rapid urbanization, and this is leading to the emergence of informal settlements where millions of people are deprived of decent housing opportunities. Economic shocks, droughts, floods, and conflicts continue to pose threats to peace and security on the continent. At the same time, the continent is developing and offers new opportunities for economic growth with its young population and rich opportunities in both maritime and land trade. The Global South NGO Platform plays a historic role in uniting communities, amplifying voices, and transforming experiences into global action. Civil society should not remain on the sidelines of the decision-making process. It must stand at the center of shaping our common future,” he said.
The Somali Presidential Advisor noted that there is no prosperity without peace and no stability without justice: “And without cooperation, there is no sustainable future. Therefore, let us work together — as North and South, East and West — to build a world defined not by division, but by dignity, not by conflict, but by cooperation.
