The speakers of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parliaments discussed the process of normalizing relations between the two countries, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan said on his X account, APA rpeorts.
"On 17 April 2026, on the sidelines of the IPU152 in Istanbul, I met with the Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ms. Sahiba Gafarova. We noted with satisfaction the recent progress in the normalization of relations between our countries, including efforts to strengthen peace, stability, and expand trade ties. We highlighted the important role of the IPU parliament as a platform for interparliamentary cooperation & expressed appreciation to Secretary General Martin Chungong for his efforts in facilitating dialogue. We also welcomed the renewed contacts between our parliamentary delegations since our meeting in Geneva in October 2025 & agreed to continue this engagement. Constructive parliamentary dialogue remains key to building trust between our societies," Simonyan noted.
