A Consultative Meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries is planned to be held in Turkmenistan, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the Informal Consultative Meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries, APA's correspondent dispatched to Kyrgyzstan reports.
"I am confident that the new comprehensive mechanisms of interstate cooperation will serve to bring our peoples and countries even closer together and, above all, will provide additional momentum and new prospects for our cooperation through the effective use of our existing joint potential. As you know, on October 8, 2026, it is planned to hold the Consultative Meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries in the National Tourist Zone of Turkmenistan. Our country attaches great importance to this event and is taking all the necessary measures to ensure that the upcoming summit is held at the highest level and as effectively as possible. To this end, the participating states have been presented with the summit's agenda.
The agenda covers five main areas. These include the discussion of current regional and international issues, the exchange of views on peace, stability and security, the further strengthening of political and diplomatic cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the deepening of trade and economic cooperation, the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector, and the development of sustainable transport and logistics corridors.
In addition, environmental protection, adaptation to climate change, the efficient use of water resources, coordination of efforts in agricultural restoration, as well as the development of cultural, educational and scientific ties and the expansion of student and youth exchanges will be among the key topics of discussion. We believe that all the proposed topics are highly relevant and strategically important for our countries.
I would also like to note that a number of international forums and cultural events are planned as part of the summit's preparations and its organization. I am confident that, as in previous years, our states will approach the organization of these international events with great responsibility and strong interest," the Turkmen president said.
