“Islamophobia has gone beyond individual display and become a tragedy. This is huge danger,” said Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of the World Muslim Communities council at the international scientific conference on the “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” held in Baku, APA reports.

He added that world organizations act helpless in combating such views:

“Especially in Western countries, the cases of discrimination against Muslims are evident. The West is conducting such a wrong policy against persons who are not identical with them in terms of religion and race. We consider that the cases of discrimination against other religions should be considered as a crime and in this sense, an international law should be prepared.”

Secretary-General noted that the idea of Islamophobia is gaining mass support:

“And this showcases itself in political views. Despite that it’s very harmful view.”

In the end, Mohamed Bechari expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for holding the event in Baku.
