Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev has congratulated Azerbaijan on republic Day, APA reports.
"On 28 May 1918, the first parliamentary secular democracy in the Muslim world, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, was founded with the adoption of a Declaration on Independence.
Despite facing grave internal and external challenges, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic succeeded in setting effective state institutions, upholding the rights of its citizens and gaining the trust of the international community. The government was formed on the basis of accountability and separation of powers and the Azerbaijani parliament was a democratically-elected, multi-party and truly representative legislative body, the first of its kind in the entire Muslim East. Azerbaijani was declared the official language, the national tricolor flag and anthem were adopted.
Today we are delighted to witness our founding State, holding current Chairmanship-in-Office of the Turkic Council, Azerbaijan’s ever-increasing influence in our region and the strengthening of its position in the international scene, with its rapidly developing economy, strong armed forces and contemporary modern education system.
Furthermore, the historical victory of Azerbaijan attained with the resolute faith and determination of President Aliyev as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the heroism of the brave Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War is a source of pride for the entire Turkic world.
Being confident that its great contributions and services to the cooperation and brotherhood bonds between Turkic-speaking states will endure, I convey once again my heartfelt congratulations to the fraternal people of Azerbaijan and I wish to the Republic of Azerbaijan a bright future full of peace and prosperity.
Respublika Gününüz mübarək! ," the statement reads.
