Mass violence and harassment against Muslims have increased after the September 11 incident in the United States, said the Secretary-General of the US Council of Muslim Organizations Oussama Ali Jammal during his speech at the panel titled “Multiculturalism, Islam, and Clash of Civilizations Theory: Rethinking Islamophobia” within the international scientific conference “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” held in Baku, APA reports.

He stated that education and awareness in this subject are crucial: "Wrong impressions can destroy this awareness process. We should name the media as well. Yes, media is an important weapon to prevent negative stereotypes."

According to the Secretary-General, the Muslim community is successfully fighting against negative manifestations: " But this needs to be expanded further, joint initiatives need to be taken forward and contributions from other minorities should also be considered."
