"France is trying to silence our voice," said Viktor Maamaatuaiahutapu, Secretary-General of the "Tavini Huiraatira" Party, at the international conference titled "Colonialism: Erasure of Religious and National Identity," organized by the Baku Initiative Group, APA reports.
The Secretary-General noted that forced assimilation could lead to the loss of their culture: "This cultural destruction will certainly have negative effects on our people. We are fighting for justice. We want to protect our cultural heritage and exercise our right to self-determination."
