The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Azerbaijan held an official reception in Baku today on the occasion of the country’s national holiday – the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, APA reports.
Members of the Milli Majlis, representatives of the diplomatic corps operating in Baku, businesspeople, intellectuals, and media representatives attended the event.
Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Essam bin Saleh Al-Jutaili spoke about the establishment of the Kingdom and the path it has taken over the past 96 years.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an important and influential state on a global scale. It is a member of the G20 (Group of Twenty), an influential force in global energy markets, and continues its leadership in supporting global economic stability and strengthening energy security,” the Ambassador said.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov said that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to its relations with Saudi Arabia and that fruitful cooperation between the countries, covering various fields, continues to develop in accordance with the interests of the two peoples:
“In this regard, the Joint Cooperation Commission established by the governments of Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia plays an important role in deepening ties between our countries in various fields. The Joint Commission is one of the effective mechanisms ensuring the implementation of instructions given by the heads of state regarding the further development of cooperation.”
“I would also like to particularly emphasize that, based on a decision adopted by the Azerbaijani state, since February 2026, citizens of Saudi Arabia holding ordinary passports have been able to travel to Azerbaijan without a visa, initially for a period of one year. We are ready to implement broader practical measures aimed at facilitating mutual visits,” he said.
