The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing passage of citizens of the Russian Federation from the Azerbaijani-Iranian border to Baku, accommodation in a hotel and assistance in their return to Russia, this was posted on the Telegram channel of the Russian Foreign Ministry, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
It was noted that the issue of rescuing Russian citizens there has become urgent due to the aggravation of the situation as a result of Israel's military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the closure of airspace in most countries of the region and the cancellation of flights.
"On the night of June 14, 2025, with the participation of the Russian Embassy in Iran and the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan, the first group of 86 people (two children) has already crossed the land section of the state border between Iran and Azerbaijan through the Astara Multilateral Vehicle Control Point.
We are talking about the film crew of the world-famous Russian director Fyodor Bondarchuk. We express our gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for providing passage from the Azerbaijani-Iranian border to Baku, accommodating the group in a hotel, and assisting our citizens in returning to their homeland," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
At the same time, a video of the Russian group being transported from the border to Baku by an Azerbaijani bus was shared on the Russian Foreign Ministry's Telegram channel.
