Ruling party Deputy Chairman: Zangazur Corridor will unite Azerbaijan and China, strengthening cooperation in Eurasia

"Against the backdrop of our country's principled position, the realization of the Zangezur Corridor in the coming period will bring Azerbaijan and China together on a new multilateral cooperation platform, thereby strengthening constructive collaboration across Eurasia," Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), Head of the Central Apparatus, said at a conference titled "Azerbaijan-China Strategic Partnership: Consolidation and Promotion of Cooperation in the Global South," APA reports.

Budagov noted that Azerbaijan, having emerged as a key Eurasian transit hub at the intersection of East-West and North-South international transport corridors, and as one of the first countries to support China's "Belt and Road" initiative, continues to demonstrate strong interest in expanding cooperation within this initiative and the Middle Corridor framework through concrete actions: "Undoubtedly, against the backdrop of our country's principled stance, the realization of the Zangezur Corridor will unite partner nations—including Azerbaijan and China—on a new multilateral platform, catalyzing enhanced constructive cooperation across Eurasia. As influential global powers, Azerbaijan and China prioritize mutual collaboration in the international arena, placing great emphasis on safeguarding each other's interests.

Having fully secured its territorial integrity and sovereignty while creating new geostrategic realities, Azerbaijan consistently expresses unambiguous support for the territorial integrity of independent states—including friend and partner China—and the One China principle, grounded in international law norms. In turn, the People's Republic of China, one of the five permanent UN Security Council members, has robustly defended Azerbaijan's just and legitimate positions—a stance highly valued by our nation. China's support for our country's representation in BRICS and the development of ties with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization further exemplifies genuine friendship and partnership."
