China-Azerbaijan relations are based on a comprehensive strategic partnership and are developing dynamically in many areas, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Issues of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, told journalists, APA reports.
Hikmet Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan and China have very good political relations: "The state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China this year played an important role in the development of our relations. Today, another fruitful meeting took place between President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. They call each other "My dear friends". This spirit is once again the embodiment of friendly relations between China and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has always supported the one-China policy. We support China's policy on Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Xinjiang region."
Noting the efforts of Azerbaijan and China in the fight against terrorism, extremism and separatism, Hikmet Hajiyev said that China and Azerbaijan are guided by the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and the sovereign choice of the model of economic development of countries: "This political spirit also translates into economic and trade relations and technological cooperation between our countries. Today, the President of Azerbaijan will hold meetings with leading Chinese companies in energy, renewable energy technology, communications, and many other fields. We hope that this visit will make a fruitful contribution to the future development of China-Azerbaijan economic and trade relations."
