"Bringing together different religious leaders shows that Azerbaijan is really a tolerant country,” said Marc Schneier, president and the founder of the US Foundation for Ethnic Understanding at the plenary session of the Global Summit of Religious Leaders on the theme "World Religions for a Green Planet", APA reports.

He said that it is possible to prevent problems if we make a collective effort regarding climate change: "No matter where we live, we have to work for it. Religious leaders also have a big share in this issue."

M. Schneier said that at the same time, the result of the presidential elections held today in the United States will also affect the issue of climate change: "Presidential elections are being held in the United States today. During the administration of former US President Trump, issues related to the efficient use of energy were ignored. He wanted to withdraw from the "Paris" agreement. The first vice president of the United States Kamala Harris, considered climate change a current problem and called it a crisis. If Harris is elected, the United States can make great progress on climate."

At the end of his speech, the US representative noted that the Global Summit of Religious Leaders held in Baku will allow us to convey our voice to the world.
