Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has congratulated Azerbaijan on the declaration of the city of Shusha as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Tourism Capital for 2026, APA's correspondent dispatched to Khankendi reports.
Speaking at the 17th ECO Summit held in Khankendi, the Turkish President emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in the field of tourism, noting that the current ECO Tourism Capital is the Turkish city of Erzurum.
“Cooperation in the tourism sector places special responsibilities on ECO member states,” said President Erdoğan, expressing confidence that the decisions made in Erzurum will guide future collaborative efforts among member countries.
He added: “I extend my congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan, through President Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of Shusha’s declaration as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2026.”
