PM: The BSSC project is a major factor to Europe’s energy security

Megaprojects carried out by Azerbaijan and Georgia are an example of successful regional cooperation, the mentioned projects serve to the transformation of the South Caucasus, said Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan during his speech at the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Commission between Georgia and Azerbaijan on Economic Cooperation, APA reports.

Ali Asadov has emphasized that energy and transportation maps of the region change with joint economic projects.

“It is necessary to especially note the Southern Gas Corridor here. Our countries play an important role in implementing this strategic project. SOCAR keeps supplying the Georgian market with gas. Our cooperation in the oil field successfully continues. Last year approximately 30 million tons of oil was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. The cooperation plan is currently actually between the Kulevi oil terminal and the oil production plant. Related to this an agreement has already been signed and crude oil and oil products will be launched to transport from the Kulevi oil terminal soon. At the same time, we build a green energy bridge together to Europe. The project of the Black Sea submarine cable (BSSC) is carried out in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary. This project is a major factor in Europe’s energy security”, said Ali Asadov.
