PM: Azerbaijan and Georgia play leading role in strengthening regional cooperation

Azerbaijan and Georgia, located on the Great Silk Road — a strategic transportation route connecting East and West — have played the role of a bridge between Europe and Asia for centuries, making significant contributions to the development of trade and economic relations, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian exchange, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov in his speech at the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, APA reports.

The Prime Minister said that today Azerbaijan and Georgia continue this historic mission with a new content, playing a leading role in strengthening regional cooperation and acting as key participants in the formation of new transport and logistics routes in the Eurasian space: “The friendship and strategic partnership relations that unite Azerbaijan and Georgia have long been one of the main pillars of stability and development in the region. Today, our countries are reliable partners not only politically but also in economic, energy, and transport spheres. The transport and transit sector traditionally holds a special place on our agenda. This direction has great potential in terms of increasing mutual trade and investments, as well as creating new economic opportunities.”
