Pashinyan: We are making progress toward establishing interstate relations with Azerbaijan and Türkiye

“We are also making progress toward establishing interstate relations with Azerbaijan and Türkiye,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during his speech at the SCO Plus meeting, APA reports.

“We are pursuing a multipolar foreign policy, which we call a balanced and balancing foreign policy. Within the framework of this policy, we are intensifying our contacts in order to maintain our relations with various centers of power that are sufficiently sensitive to the current situation. For us, the main importance and complexity of this balance lies in the fact that the primary objective of such a policy is to preserve and strengthen sovereignty and independence. While developing these strategies, we have come to the conclusion that this is impossible without independence and sovereignty. That is precisely why, while deepening our friendly relations with our neighbors Iran and Georgia, we are also making progress toward establishing interstate relations with our other two neighbors — Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Thanks to the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we are currently working toward opening interstate communications with Azerbaijan and Türkiye. This includes the implementation of the TRIPP project. This will open up new transport opportunities. These opportunities will connect not only East to West, that is, the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, but also South to North — the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea,” Nikol Pashinyan noted.
