Parliamentary Committee Chairman: Azerbaijan and Türkiye should work together in defense field

"The formation of a joint army between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is an ongoing process," said Hulusi Akar, Chairman of the National Defense Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) and former Minister of Defense, in his statement to journalist after the second meeting of the defense and security committee chairs of TURKPA member parliaments, held in the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), APA reports.

He mentioned that President Ilham Aliyev supports the independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus: "As he stated, we are no longer just one nation with two states, but one nation with three states. Furthermore, we are not only one nation but also one army. Currently, the process is ongoing in terms of a single army. Azerbaijan and Türkiye should work together in the defense field. For this, joint military training is essential. Weapons and supplies must be coordinated. The process is progressing successfully."
