European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos was briefed on demining operations carried out in the liberated territories from 2020 to 2025, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.
An ANAMA official informed the commissioner that, between November 2020 and September 17, 2025, demining operations in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur cleared a total of 227,713.3 hectares of land from mines and explosive remnants of war.
The briefing noted that 38,600 anti-personnel mines, 22,192 anti-tank mines, and 148,376 unexploded ordnance (UXO)—a total of 209,168 mines and other war-related explosives—were discovered and neutralized.
It was also highlighted that the demining operations were carried out manually, with specialized mechanical equipment and mine-detection dogs.
Commissioner Kos then observed the controlled detonation of mines found in the area.
