A meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Gabala on October 7, APA reports.
The meeting took place within the framework of the 12th Summit of the OTS Council of Heads of State to be held in Gabala.
Delivering an opening speech at the meeting, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the dynamics of cooperative relations established on the basis of brotherhood and mutual trust among OTS member states at a time when trust in international organizations has been shaken is not only a source of pride for all of us, but also a solid basis for us to look to the future with hope. “Today, we will listen to the proposals of the member states to further strengthen our organization. Increasing the number of OTS annual Summits to 2 at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev has created an opportunity for a flexible, in-depth, and detailed discussion of our cooperation opportunities,” the minister added.
Drawing attention to the importance of comprehensive political coordination and solidarity in the face of current global and regional security challenges, J. Bayramov noted that the strength of the OTS as a symbol of unity in the new international security architecture being formed has the potential to play a more important role. “Azerbaijan’s consistent efforts and purposeful activities towards the normalization process with Armenia, with which it has been in conflict for decades, are also designed to establish peace and stability in our region,” he said.
The Minister noted that the OTS member states play the role of a bridge between the European and Asian continents by organizing natural transport, logistics, and transit lines from a geographical perspective. “The organization has enormous potential in this direction. This line is also an integral part of the Middle Corridor. The declaration of the TRIPP route within the framework of the Washington Summit, which will provide unhindered movement between the western regions of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through the Zangezur corridor, is an important step in terms of diversifying connections in our region.”
The meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS continued its work with discussions.
